Great Value, good performance January 6, 2009 I was able to pick up this scanner for around $50, and considering all of the more expensive options out there, I thought it would be low quality. After hooking it up and using it for various applications (document scanning, photo scanning), I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality. I've used several scanners that cost two or three times as much as this one, and they've produced lower quality images. If you're looking for a low-cost, portable (powered by USB!), and good quality flatbed, this item is a great choice. It may not have all the features and widgets of an expensive high-end scanner, but you can't beat the bang for the buck on tihs one. It even comes with reasonably useful software to boot.
easy to use January 6, 2009 Bought as a christmas gift and was very easy to set up and use. Great little machine. Would recommend to anyone for casual use.
Canon LiDE100 Color Image Scanner January 6, 2009 Scanner was very easy to install and use. Compact design makes handy to store when not in use. Very satisfied with product.
Excellent photo scanner! January 1, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this scanner as a gift to scan old photos. It is fantastic for scanning old photos. Simply drop the 4 photos on the glass (no need to line them up, get them straight, etc.). Push a button, and the scanner scans the photos, straightens them up and separates them. I don't use the editing software so I can't comment on that, but this is a great scanner for a Mac user.
First Rate December 27, 2008 I originally bought this to scan documents and receipts. It was incredibly easy to set up and worked quite well even on small receipts. I was happy with it.
Then, a friend of mine had some very old photos she wanted put on a digital frame. I decided this would be a great test of the Canon Scanner. I went from happy to amazed. I was able to scan 3 - 4 photos at a time - she had over 100 of them. It didn't take as long as I anticipated and the quality was quite good. I couldn't correct defects in the original photo - even with Photoshop - but if the original was in pretty good condition - the scanned image looked good. In some cases the picture was improved, but it was never worse than the original.
The scanning speed surprises me the most and the quality runs a close second.
A great scanner for the price and I highly recommend it.
